Australia has completed its appearance at the Men’s World Championships in Sweden. NSW and Australian Media Officer Violi Calvert has been writing a blog of the Australian experiences at the event. Here’s an excerpt from her last entry…
Today was our last match in this world championship. Although the Team met the goals set in at least two matches, it did not achieve the ultimate goal of one win. However, there are certainly positives achieved in the Aussies’ participation in this world championship. There was a marked improvement in the Team’s intensity and endurance during the matches compared to previous world championships; there were only minor injuries towards the end. The Team celebrates three Player of the Match awards: Bevan Calvert (Player No. 4, in the Denmark match), Ognjen Latinovic (Player No. 1, in the Romania match) and Tommy Fletcher (Player No. 5, in the Algeria match). Take a bow Team!
