May – Sefton High wins NSW Boys School Championships

Sefton High won the final in extra time, in a tightly contested NSW Schools Championships over Turramurra High at Dural Sport and Leisure on Tuesday May 15. Seven teams contested the event with Fairvale and Hill Grammar filling out the top 4. It was great to see St Mary, St Marks and Miller Technology High put on good displays of handball. Given the skill on display we look forward to a very close competition next year. Thanks to the players, supporters and officials who helped make the day such a success.

May – IHF sends international coach to National Beach Handball camp

The Australian Men’s and Women’s teams are preparing for the 5th World Beach Handball Championships to be held in Oman in July. The IHF are supporting our local coaches and players with an international coach Mr Neukum Tamás from Hungary participating in a national camp between 17-22 May at Maroubra Beach. Mr Tamas’ experience includes Beach and Indoor handball – having coached the Hungarian Beach handball Champions as well as indoor women’s national Handball teams from Hungary and Italy, and having these teams place in the top two at World Games. All the best to our local players learning from this wonderful opportunity.

May – NSW Club competition begins May 26

The NSW Club competition begins at Sydney Olympic Park on May 26. Final team confirmations for the draw are needed. If you are interested in playing, please see our Club Contacts page for the team nearest you.

May – Turramurra High claim Girl’s School Championships

Turramurra High won the NSW Girls’ School Handball Championships at Dural Indoor Leisure Centre on May 8. They played a tighly contested final with OLMC Parramatta. Ten teams from schools across Sydney participated. Teams played between 4-6 games and enjoyed it so much that Fairvale and Miller Tech even had energy left for a friendly match at the end of the day. Thanks to all who particpated, supported and officiated. The boys champsionships are on May 15.

March – Last call for Beginning Coaching

NSWHA is running a Handball specific Beginning Coaching course at Sydney Olympic Park on Sunday March 25 between 10am-6pm. Places are filling but there may still be some vacancy. Contact bronwyn@www.nswhandball.com.au if interested.

March – U16 boys competition starting

A 12 week competition for boys Under 16 starts Sunday March 18 and breaking for school holidays. Games will be played every second week, alternating with training. Places are still available.

Cost: $105 per player (including 12 mths NSW Handball Registration)
Venue: Morris Iemma Indoor Centre, 150 Belmore Rd, Riverwood
Time: 4pm-5:30pm

March – Trials for Australian Junior Women tour to Europe being held in Sydney

A training and selection camp for Youth/Junior Women is being held in Kellyville in Sydney on March 10 and 11. The squad will join the Youth Men’s team named recently.
