The World Beach Handball Championships have just wrapped up in Oman and our Aussie teams have perfomed very competitively. Well done to our guys in some tough competition, and huge congratulations to our women for three wins – the most of any Aussie national handball team to date in recent history. Congrats to our NSW players who were a part of this event. We look forward to hearing some good reports and stories with further detail so we can help you celebrate.

June – Australian men play New Zealand at Dural
The Men’s Oceania Region World Championship Qualifiers are being held at Dural Sport and Leisure Centre 8pm Friday June 22 and 4pm Sat June 23. It’s a best of two series between Australia and New Zealand. Come along and support our NSW guys in the squad as they power up to play the Kiwis!
Dural Sport and Leisure Centre is on the corner of Kenthurst Rd and Pellit Lane at Dural.

June – NSW Handball seeking coaches
NSWHA is calling for applications for Coaches for 3 of its State Teams for 2012. Positions are appointed for 2012 only. The teams are U18 girls and Open/Senior Mens and Womens Teams.

May – Reminder: Oceania Region Handball WC Qualifier
Just a reminder that the Oceania Region Handball World Championship Qualifier will be on 22nd June [Friday at 8 pm] and on 23rd June [Saturday at 4pm], to be held at the Dural Sport & Leisure Centre.
We hope to see as many as possible as possible watch and cheer on the NZ and the Australian men’s teams compete in this significant handball event.
May – Perfect but cool weather for Aussie Beach team prepping at Maroubra
The Australian Beach Handball Men’s and Women’s teams are holding a national camp at Maroubra beach between May 17-22. They are preparing for the World Champsionships in Oman in July. The IHF have kindly sent one of their top coaches Tamas Neukem to asssit the local Coaches Nanna Hedberg (Vic) and Boris Mensing (WA) in the preparations. A number of NSW players are in the squad and final teams – more names soon. NSW Women in Team are Alice Keighly, Allira Hudson, Dani Cook, Emma Van Bussell, Taylee Lewis and reserve Rachel Lodewijks. NSW Men in team are Michael Sullivan, Tim Harvey and reserve Alek Mikalak.
May – NSW club league competition starts May 26
NSW Club League competition starts Saturday May 26 at Sports Halls, Sydney Olympic Park. Players are still welcome – beginners and experienced are all welcome. Some clubs are still looking for players to make numbers. See our Contact a Club page for details.
May – U15 Boys social comp and training
An U15/16 Boys social competition, clinics and training sessions are currently running on Sunday afternoons at the Morris Iemma Centre at Riverwood, Interested particpants can contact Claire Dennerley, Junior Development Officer on claire_dennerley@hotmail.com
May – NSW to host Men’s Oceania qualifiers for the Men’s World Champs
NSWHA will host the Oceania region qualifiers on June 22-23 in preparation for the Men’s World Championships. NSW Players selected in the Australian team for the event include Luka Krajnc, Mitch Hedges, Ogi Matic, Steven Plummer, Bevan Calvert (playing in Germany), Tim Anderson, Michael Sullivan and Pascal Winkler. The event will be held at Dural Sport and Leisure Centre. Australia and New Zealand will play off in a two match contest, following the withdrawal of the Cook Islands who have been sadly unable to host this year.
