August – U16 NSW Youth Teams heading to ACT
It’s the 2015 Youth Championships this coming weekend. Teams from ACT, QLD and NSW will be playing at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) on Saturday and Sunday. Safe travels and best wishes for some excellent games this weekend for both our boys and girls teams.
The event is being held in the AIS Basketball and Netball Centre in Leverrier Street, Bruce, ACT.
August – NSW 21 Men runners up to QLD
The U21 NSW guys played QLD in Sunday’s final at the 2015 Australian Junior Championships, held in Brisbane between July 30-Aug 2. It was a hard fought game from both sides with the QLD team winning 21:13. It was the third meeting of the two teams over the weekend, the initial game a draw and the second had Queensland edging ahead. Both teams were very tight on defence.
The guys also played the U18 QLD team twice over the weekend, with wins and great opportunities for all members of the squad to get some match experience. Congratulations on the silver medals – 5 games in two days so recover well and travel safe. Well done to the team.
July – Seeking EOIs for NSW Senior teams
Senior Nationals is in Perth between October 8-11 this year. Could players who are interested in participating in NSW Senior Men and Senior Women’s teams, and who are financially able to commit to attend, please submit their interest asap?
We need this information to check feasibility to attend and to book training courts. This next few months is a busy time with the SuperGlobe and other national activities underway which may keep some elite players busy so please do indicate interest even if you feel you are still developing as a player as there may be extra opportunity for participation this year. Its a chance to get some great training at a high level in.
Players must be registered with NSW Handball. Players on tourist visas are ineligible, however those on study or work visas are eligible to seek selection to participate.
Please let bronwyn@www.nswhandball.com.au or scott@www.nswhandball.com.au know of your interest by August 10.
July – Late change to Saturday July 25 Draw
Notice of late change to Saturday draw at Dural
Please note that UNSW have forfeited their match this weekend against Sydney Uni Gold. As a consequence of this, the draw has been changed so that we have sufficient referees and match officials
9:00 Hills v Sydney Uni Blue – referee: Harbourside; Table UTS
10:30 Harbourside v UTS – referee: Hills; Table: Sydney Uni Blue.
The venue for tomorrow’s game is Dural Sport & Leisure Centre, 1 Pellitt lane, Dural.
July – Saturday July 25 Club games at Dural
Change of venue to Dural for Saturday July 25 games!
Please note that games this coming weekend are at Dural Sport & Leisure Centre, 1 Pellitt lane, Dural.
The draw is:
9:00 Hills v Sydney Uni Blue – referee: Gold; Table: UNSW
9:00 Harbourside v UTS – referee: Gold; Table UNSW
10:30 Sydney Uni Gold v UNSW – referee: Hills; Table: Harbourside
There are no women’s matches this week.
Also, please note that each duty requires 2 officials (ie 2 referees and 2 table duty). Recently some clubs have only sent 1 and it is almost impossible to cover this shortfall. We would rather not have to send fines out for missed duties. Please have your officials arrive 15 minutes before the matches are due to commence as court time is tight.
