March – Working with Children Check required by volunteers from April 1

NSW Handball volunteers and officials working with juniors will need to apply for Working with Children Check from April 1. From this date all NSW Handball members working and/or interacting with children and young people in their teams and activities will need to provide evidence of this clearance. Its a free process for volunteers.

The Office of the Children’s guardian says…
A Working With Children Check is a prerequisite for anyone in child-related work. It involves a national criminal history check and review of findings of workplace misconduct. The Check is fully portable which means it can be used for any paid or unpaid child-related work in NSW for as long as the worker remains cleared.
