August – Junior development sessions to run Fridays until September

Following a very successful Junior Championships with NSW teams participating across the board in U18 & U21 Men’s and Women’s events, sessions will continue to run Friday nights from 7:00-8:30pm at Sports Halls, Grand Pde, Sydney Olympic Park until the end of September. Newcomers welcome too!

July – Change in the Saturday draw

Because so many junior players are going to the Gold Coast for National Juniors on 30th July, several teams will be affected. As a result, there will be a change in the draw for the Men’s Competition for that weekend and onward. Please take note of the changes on the Competition page.

Also, it has been decided that, while we are Valentine Park, the team duties are: that the players involved in the first match will put the lines on the court and the players involved in the second match will remove the lines and clean the resin off the court.

July – NSW Saturday League starts this month

Our Saturday competition starts this week July 2 for Men and July 23 for Women. The Match schedule is in the Competition section of this website.

The first three weeks of July will be at Valentine Park (NSW Football) 235 Meurants Ln, Glenwood NSW 2768, before returning to our regular home at Sports Halls, Sydney Olympic Park.

May – Team nominations for NSW League competition due June 6

May – NSW Clubs to compete in Australian Championships

Sydney Uni and UTS are competing on both Men’s and Women’s events in the Australian Club Championships in Geelong, Victoria between June 2-5.
The Men’s competition will also decide the Oceania representative team for the SuperGlobe to be held in Qatar later this year. Sydney Uni has been the representative for the last five years and hoping to do so again but facing a record six other clubs vying for the spot.

April – Reminder NSWHA AGM Sunday April 10

A reminder that the NSWHA AGM is Sunday April 10 at 10am. Venue is Sports House, Level 2 Quad 1, 2 Parkview Rd, Sydney Olympic Park. There’s lots of work to be done and Committee position to be filled so hope to see you there as we grow this sport together.

April – Deadline April 11 for entering Australian Club Champsionships

Handball Victoria is hosting the 2916 Australian Open Club Championships for both Men and Women and includes the Men’s Oceania SuperGlobe qualifer and an Oceania women’s event as well. The event will be held in Geelong, Victoria (approximately 46 miles/74 kilometres from Melbourne) from the 2-5 June 2016.

Preparations are well underway with court booking confirmed. As this is the first year we are attempting to hold such an event we are now seeking expressions of interest – due Monday 28 March. Please send an email to so we can distribute all event information in the coming weeks. We are currently working through an event budget including potential financial assistance from government departments and sponsorship – as such the entry cost per team will be determined on Wednesday 30 March. While we try to minimise costs, our sponsorship is very small at this stage though and nations will need to self-fund their participation.

Final entry registration will be required on Monday 11th April along with a $100 deposit per team.

February – NSW scores well at 2016 Beach Handball Championships

NSW Club teams win Gold in the finals of the Women’s and Mixed teams event at the 2016 Beach Handball Championships on the Gold Coast today.
The teams that train at Maroubra called themselves the Maroubra Bluebottles. Other NSW teams performed well and had a great event. Congratulations to the teams and thanks to our hosts Handball Queensland who ran a great event.

February – NSW teams to participate in Aust Beach Champs

The draw has been posted for the 2016 Australian Beach Handball Championships, being held on the Gold Coast between February 25-28.

The event will be preceded by a National Training camp ahead of the Oceania Beach Handball Qualification event being held in conjunction with the event. Both Men and Women’s Australian teams will play New Zealand for the right to represent Oceania at the World Championships in Hungary in July.
