November – R4 Men’s National League held in Sydney

Friday, January 5th, 2018

The final round for 2017 of the HLA (Handball League Australia) for Men was held over the weekend of November 18-19 in Sydney.

It was the most thrilling round yet with many of the matches very tight – keeping spectators on the edge of their seats. On the Saturday newcomers Brisbane Wolves took regular winners Sydney uni into two lots of overtime until defending champions Sydney Uni finally pulled ahead by two points. Sunday’s final saw regular challengers St Kilda take the win over Sydney Uni in the final in a tight and physical match.

Check out the photos by Bob Woods and Bronwyn Thompson on the HLA Facebook page.

Congratulations to both NSW CLubs Sydney Uni and UTS Hawkes for such great performances. Planning for 2018 will occur in January, with the possible addition of more clubs to the event.

September – final call for NSW Seniors for Nationals

Tuesday, September 5th, 2017

Senior Nationals squads are underway for the upcoming Nationals October 5-8 being held in Sydney.

Interested players who haven’t yet made contact with the coaches re: training sessions, please do so quickly as we have uniforms and other logistics to arrange.

Players are eligible for selection if they’ve played 5 games in the last 12 months and made themselves available to trial. Given it’s been a sparse couple of seasons, if you’re a regular player who hasn’t met these requirements, please do talk to the coaches and seek an exemption.

Some States are seeking players to support their squads and NSW wants to support these. NSW requires players planning to do this to trial for NSW first so please also be in contact so we can let any other States needing support know.

Contact us via the New South Wales Handball Facebook page.
