October 4-7 – Australian Open Championships (Senior Nationals)

This year’s Nationals will be held at the Stanhope Leisure Centre in Blacktown again. Throw off is on Thursday the 4th October at 12pm with an international women’s game AUS v NZ. The round games will start on Thursday around 3pm.

September – Youth Come and Try Day

What better way to start the school holidays with an afternoon of Handball. This Free Event will allow young kids to get to know the game and they will be coached by experienced handball players.

September – NSW performs well at Aust Juniors

The Australian Junior Championships are at Runaway Bay on the Gold Coast between September 1-2. Its a state of origin style affair with NSW U18 and U21 Men’s and Women’s teams battling it out with Queensland.

August – UTS running 8 week mixed social comp

June – Junior Men take Oceania

The Australian Junior Men have finished undefeated and the Youth Men third at the IHF Oceania Trophy in New Caledonia.

May – NSW Clubs perform well at Aussie Club Champs

Sydney Uni have defended their Men’s title at the Australian Club Championships in Geelong in an all NSW final against UTS.

April – Calling NSW players born 2000 or later

Calling NSW players born 2000 or later with Junior and Youth rep experience and/or NSW High Schools

The Oceanian Men’s Junior Trophy planned for New Caledonia in June has now introduced a Youth age group in addition to the regular Junior one. Handball Australia is conducting a feasibility trial to see if we can also send a Youth team. If you are an Australian citizen, born on or after 2000, can travel between June 11-18 and are interested, please be in touch.

Come and Try/Trial session: Sunday April 15, 9:30-12noon.

Please note: Air travel, meals, accommodation and on ground costs for the actual event are covered by the International Federation. There will be some additional camp training costs, some additional nights accommodation, travel insurance, uniforms and a team EOI fee that will need to be covered by players.

For Junior Women – the International Federation has also announced the Women’s event for 2019, so it’s a great time to also start training now.

March – NSW Club handball League starts April 6

Season 1 is a Friday night competition. Games start at 6:30pm @ Sydney Boys High School, Cleveland Rd (near the tennis courts).
